If the old adage "he who pays the piper calls the tune" then young people should have an absolute voice in the Brexit debate, and arguably a veto upon the outcome of the referendum and negotiations between the UK & EU.
As a person of "age" I am aghast at the arrogance of my generation is exercising authority but declining any responsibility. Already the outcome of the Brexit vote has been an effective pay cut which impacts young people more than older people. On the news everyday we hear that in future a greater & greater proportion of the nation's wealth will be needed to support old people. These statements are laced with emotional blackmail.
Yet my generation have made a decision that the future wealth creators will have fewer opportunities (less then we had). My son's plans to explore the educational and employment opportunities across the EU now hang in the balance, and have probably been scotched by this government.
Worse still, almost every time young people politely try to express their concerns, my generation roll out WW2 and their supposed sacrifices. But to have served in WW2 in battle you have to be male and at least 91 years old. Just how many 91 year old men are there in UK today? Almost none. So in fact my generation are doing something worse than lying to the young, we are stealing the very real sacrifices out fathers made.
